
Heather West, Ph.D. earned her undergraduate degree in
psychology from Davidson College. She earned her masters and
doctoral degrees in Clinical/School Psychology at the University
of Virginia. Dr. West completed her clinical internship at the
Alexandria Community Mental Health Center in Alexandria,
Virginia.
Before moving to Charlotte, Dr. West worked in the Fairfax
County, Virginia public school system with children and
adolescents who were identified as Emotionally Disabled. She
provided ongoing individual and group counseling, crisis
intervention, testing, and consultation for students and their
families. Dr. West also worked as managing partner of the
Assessment and Therapy Center of Virginia, LLP, a private
practice serving children, adolescents, adults, and families.
Through the Assessment and Therapy Center, Dr. West provided
therapeutic intervention to individuals and families and
comprehensive psychological evaluations for clients of all ages.
Dr. West enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults
to help them identify their strengths so that they may overcome
difficulties and build towards a more positive future. She
combines cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, family systems,
and play therapy techniques to encourage health and well-being.
In addition to individual, family, and group counseling, Dr.
West specializes in crisis intervention, consultation with
educational professionals, and has extensive experience in
comprehensive psycho-educational and psychological evaluations.
