Barrie Morganstein, Ph.D.
Dr.
Morganstein received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Gallaudet
University in Washington, D.C. Her internship was completed at Ravenswood
Community Mental Health Center in Chicago, IL. She received her
undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Towson State University in
Towson, MD near Baltimore.
Dr. Morganstein has worked in a variety of mental health settings and has
provided care to individuals of various ages and diverse cultural
backgrounds. Before beginning practice at Southeast Psychological Services
in 2001, she provided mental health services for Mecklenburg County Area
Mental Health.
Dr. Morganstein sees clients of all ages with a range of concerns including:
depression, anxiety, parenting & family issues, behavioral problems, ADHD &
learning disabilities (especially Central Auditory Processing Disorder),
self-esteem & identity issues, and interpersonal difficulties. She also
does coaching for clients of all ages with ADHD, learning disabilities,
and/or general life struggles. Dr. Morganstein conducts psychological
testing with clients of all ages for education & learning disabilities,
ADHD, intelligence (I.Q.), and personality concerns.
Dr. Morganstein also specializes in working with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (DHH)
individuals of all ages. She is fluent in American Sign Language,
experienced in deaf culture, and knowledgeable about assistive-listening
devices (e.g., hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.). She also works with
clients who use speech and lip-reading but do not sign. She is also
available to consult with other professionals working with DHH clients. Dr.
Morganstein is equally experienced in providing services to both hearing and
DHH clients.
